Commissioned in the Armed Forces Medical Services on 22nd Jan. 1967 as Lieutenant & reached the highest rank of Lieutenant General & retired after completing 38 years of service. During the service in the Armed Forces, he has held various prestigious professional, administrative and academic appointments as Director (Operations), Director (Standardization), Director (Quality assurance), and has been Director of various multispecialty & Super Specialty Hospitals. He has commanded army Medical Corps center & College & conducted training of Medical Officers, Dental Officers, Nursing Officers & various Para-medical staff. During the service he was awarded Ati Vishishta Seva Medal & Vishishta Seva Medal by hon’ble President of India.

Since retirement, he had served as Director General of Vikhe Patil Institute of Medical Sciences from June 2005. As Director General, he was instrumental in starting Medical College, Physiotherapy College, Nursing College, Nursing Institute & post Graduate courses in various Medical disciplines. He had a tenure of “Vice-Chancellor” of Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Loni. Presently he is “Secretary General” of Dr. Vithalrao Vikhe Patil Foundation, Ahmednagar consisting of College of Engineering, College of Pharmacy, Institute of Business Management, Industrial Training Institute in addition to Institutes of Medical & allied disciplines.
